HACU's Scholarship Programs

*Multiple scholarships. Students must demonstrate financial need, meet criteria specified for the program to which they are applying, & be attending a HACU-member institution at the time scholarship awards are made. Scholarships are non-renewable unless otherwise indicated. Renewable scholarships are contingent upon funding & student’s continuing eligibility. Full-time: 12 credit hours per semester (or its equivalent for graduate students)
*BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT AWARD: $3,000; full-time undergraduate; majors in natural resources, sciences, or forestry—or their equivalent majors/curricula—degree program; 3.2 cum GPA; interest in natural resources management
*CLASE/COORS LIGHT ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN EDUCATION AWARD: $1,000; full-time undergraduate or graduate students; any major in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Mexico. Students in the U.S. & Puerto Rico may use scholarship to take for-credit courses at home institution OR to study abroad at HACU-member institution in Mexico. Students in Mexico can ONLY use scholarship to take for-credit courses at a U.S. HACU-member institution. 3.2 cum GPA (or equivalent)
*GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE AWARD: $2,000; full-time undergraduate or graduate students at 4-year institutions; declared majors in an engineering degree program; 3.2 cum GPA; renewable based on availability of funds & student’s continuing eligibility
*WAL-MART ACHIEVERS AWARD: full-time undergraduate students in at least sophomore year, having completed minimum of one year of full-time study; majors in business administration, general management, retail management—or equivalent majors/curricula—degree program; 3.0 cum GPA; preferably working while attending school; have interest in retail management

*Check List: Completed & signed application; resume; essay; Recommendation Data Sheet with letter of recommendation; Enrollment & Class Level Certification Form; Official Transcript(s); Financial Need Certification Form. Transfer students also include: letter of admission for upcoming academic year; proof of full-time enrollment for upcoming fall term

*Basic Internship Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale; enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; a senior graduating in May is only eligible in the summer program; completion of the freshman year of college before the internship begins; U.S. citizenship or permanent residency; active in community & campus activities
*Internships match majors & career goals through placements in depts. of public affairs, accounting, human resources & info. technology, as well as laboratories, hospitals, airports, & natl. forests & parks, among others. Some intern assignments have included completing & analyzing research, writing speeches, conducting audits, performing land surveys, creating web pages, conducting community health surveys, & developing outreach strategies for under-served populations
*Ten- & 15-week internship programs give college students direct experience in a diversity of careers in the federal & corporate sectors; scholarships may target specific majors, levels of study, institutions &/or regions of the country; weekly pay based on 40 hours per week; salary for corporate interns is set by the corporate sponsor; minimum salary for corporate interns: sophomore/junior-$420, senior-$450, graduate-$520
