Overview
Through COSI’s (Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative) Youth Mentorship Scholarship Program, Partners has the opportunity to provide 5 undergraduate CSU students each with $2500 in tuition assistance for the academic year 2025-2026. This scholarship is intended for students who volunteer/intern with Partners as a School-Based Mentor and are matched with at least 2 youth. Priority consideration for this scholarship is given prior to April 30th, 2025

Eligibility
Be a Colorado resident or be eligible for in-state tuition
Be awarded full Pell Grant assistance for the 2025-26 academic year
Be a full-time, degree-seeking, undergraduate CSU student for both fall and spring semesters

Intern Opportunity
Interns will work as a mentor to youth (7-18 years old) facing significant challenges in their social, academic and/or personal lives. This work will take place both in the school setting, as well as the Partners office in Fort Collins. School placements are available in Fort Collins and/or Loveland. Interns will carry a caseload of youth and participate in one-on-one mentoring relationships with each youth. This internship is a great opportunity for individuals who desire to work with youth, further develop their therapeutic skills in a non-clinical realm, and to gain further experience in the non-profit community and school system. Additional opportunities through this internship beyond one-on-one mentoring may include assisting prevention education classes, case management, fundraising, and community engagement.

This internship has a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week that school is in session (fall/winter/spring break off) for the duration of 1 academic year (both fall and spring semesters). Specific intern’s hours and duties can be flexible and made to fit the desires of the intern.

Meet with the youth on your caseload weekly (minimum of 3 youth)
Develop rapport and target needs of your youth, utilizing therapeutic skills/interventions
Monthly check ins with parents, counselors, and teachers
Documentation/weekly check-ins with Partners supervisor
Group and/or Individual Intern Supervision

Qualifications
Successful completion of screening process according to Partners and local school district standards
Must be self-motivated, and possess exceptional communication skills
Available to complete a full academic year commitment to the youth being mentored
